The Toy Scoop - June 2022
June 2022 Newsletter
Somehow we are almost halfway through the year! Read on to see what is in store for Cockburn Toy Library over the coming months....
WA Day Public Holiday
A reminder that we are always closed over Public Holiday long weekends. For the approaching Saturday 4 June 2022 both branches will be closed. All toys out on loan will be extended to the following week. We will open again on Tuesday at the Coolbellup branch as usual.
You may have received an automated text message at the end of May to advise we were closing the Atwell branch at short notice. If you have a problem with receiving messages from us, please let us know and we can opt you out of this notification service.
Committee Meeting 12 June - 12:30PM
We are holding a regular meeting on Sunday afternoon at the Coolbellup branch, to discuss all things toy library. If you are interested in how the committee works, or if you have any feedback or input for us, please feel free to come along. We are always looking for new members to join the committee! This can count towards your volunteering component
Busy Bee on 15 July 2022 - 1:00PM
There is always work to be done at the toy library - especially toy maintenance. We hope that you can come and help us with assessing toys for playability, checking batteries, and other general jobs. This is a chance for members who aren't available to volunteer during our open hours to help out at the toy library. Please sign up below:
Stay & Play on 6 July 2022
We are already thinking about the next school holidays so that we can run another Stay & Play. A casual event for parents to attend with their children, allowing free play in the confines of the Atwell branch, while you can watch on with a cuppa. Further details to be released later this month - keep an eye on social media for updates.
Cleaning & Sanitising
Thanks to every member who remembers to clean toys before they are returned to the toy library. Please ensure that items are dry before closing them into a box, as we would hate for the toys to grow mould in this weather. If you are ever unsure of how to clean the toys you have on loan, we have cleaning guidelines here.
Expect to see a stream of Fat Brain Toys trickling in over the next few weeks, we had the opportunity to purchase them at a discounted price and hope you like the toys we have picked! Also coming soon are John Deere branded trucks & tractors, as well as a TIMIO player.
Are you a handy member?
We are looking for anyone with electrical skills to assess battery operated toys and carry out minor repairs. Please get in contact with us if you think you could take some of our dysfunctional powered toys to see if you can make them work again! This would count towards your volunteer duty.
Yours in play,
Cockburn Toy Library Committee
