Toy Library Busy Bee

We'll be holding a Busy Bee at Coolbellup on Saturday, August 22, between 9:30 AM and 1:30PM. We're delighted to be the recipients of an $800 WA State Government Let's Grow! grant which we are using to improve our garden. The funding will support new trees, plants and basic reticulation to increase shade, enhance our outdoor space, promote play during sessions and create a more welcoming environment for members and local wildlife. If you enjoy gardening, we'd love your help at our busy bee next month!

Click on the image above to sign up for morning or afternoon - we appreciate your support to conquer the to-do list! We will have indoor and outdoor tasks - whether you enjoy cleaning, organising, gardening, or something different, we'll have a job for you... and perhaps that may be cooking the lunchtime sausage sizzle! You will be credited 1 volunteering duty for a two-hour contribution - why not bring a friend for another volunteering credit?

SMS Consent - are you getting our messages?

From time to time, unexpected events can prevent one of our sessions from going ahead. We endeavour to provide as much notice as we can on our social media pages - and will always send an automated SMS to the first registered mobile on your SeTLS member profile.

If you are not receiving our messages and would like to be included for SMS notices, please reply via email or let us know when you are next in the library so that we can update this for you. We will do our best to check with members when you loan toys to make sure that we have your consent up to date. Please note that you are not required to provide SMS consent!

New Toys on the Way!

Behold the spoils of our fundraising! We have almost twenty new games, puzzles, pretend play and beginner toys coming your way very soon. We looked for interesting new releases, durable toys to fill gaps in our collection, and items that just looked like good fun!

Our committee is working hard to catalogue, label and package these up for borrowing. You will see these trickling into the collection over the coming weeks. You can keep an eye on them through the NEW TOYS page on SeTLS.

Sensory Garden Saturdays in August

Plant, water, explore, and learn! Join us in August as we create and care for a sensory garden at the Coolbellup library with the help of new items in our collection, thanks to an Inspiring Australia (WA) grant as part of National Science Week. In each session, we'll explore themes of science, sustainability and environmental stewardship through activities that encourage observation, curiosity and connection with nature. Featured toys and resources will help children learn about plants, insects, measurement, identification, and caring for living things. Sessions are capped at 10 participants, so make sure you sign up on Eventbrite with this link or by clicking the image to secure your spot. Feel free to email us or have a chat with one of our librarians if you have any questions.

Containers for Change

Collecting 10c containers?

Use our Cockburn Toy Library code to donate your refund to the toy library and help us work towards our goal to purchase new outdoor toys in time for summer play.

We have green CFC mesh bags at the Coolbellup branch for you to fill with your recyclable containers.

If you can't easily make it to a collection point, instead drop your containers back to Cooby for one of our team to process. To say thanks, for each bag (with eligible containers) dropped off we will add an additional BONUS week to the end of your current membership period. Please let one of our librarians know you've made a donation so they can update your SeTLS profile!

Bunnings Family Event

On Thursday, 3rd September from 4:30PM to 7:30PM we will be at Bibra Lake Bunnings while they host their Father's Day Family Night. We are looking for 3 member volunteers who can help us run the Sausage Sizzle that evening. This volunteering is a great opportunity for members who struggle to make it during our regular open sessions! If you are able to assist on the night, please reply via email or let us know in session. We will send out more information closer to the date.
