The Toy Scoop [February 2023]

March closed dates

Coinciding with the long weekend in March, there is an International Toy Libraries Association conference being held in Melbourne. Both our Toy Librarian Marissa and President Renae are excited to be heading over to represent Cockburn Toy Library. This means that we will be closed the below dates while they are away: Saturday 4 March Tuesday 7 March Please do not attend either branch on these days, as there will not be anyone present! If you are ever unsure, you can always check our open hours on the SeTLS member website.

Membership Renewal

You should receive an automated email from SeTLS 14 days before your membership expires. Please make sure you log in and hit that Renew button so that you can keep borrowing toys You can sort out your membership fees when you next visit the library with EFTPOS using our Square reader, or if you want to avoid the processing fees, you can just bank transfer the amount due. REMINDER: Please use the surname of your membership as the reference/description so that our treasurer can match it up to your membership.

Nominate for your volunteer rosters!

Jenna (our Roster Coordinator) extends her gratitude for those members who have nominated themselves so far this year. We are volunteer run, and without members help, we cannot open. For any member that has an Active membership - we would love if you could be proactive and select a date that suits you best. Calendars for Atwell and Coolbellup are published on the member website a month in advance, so you can make it work within your schedule. You may also see a space for External Volunteer on each calendar - these are reserved for community volunteers and students, so please only nominate in the Member Volunteer spaces.

Will you be our sign handler?

We have two brand new vinyl signs that we can use to advertise the toy library to the wider community. The council offers us the opportunity to display these around Cockburn in designated roadside sign locations. Can you help us? This task would involve making periodic online applications with the City of Cockburn to display our banners, and then hanging and taking down the banners for us. This is a simple, low commitment job that would be great for someone who finds it hard to volunteer during our open hours. If you think this task could be for you, please email ctl.toylibrary@gmail.com
